Jiajia Chen

Professor Chen Jiajia serves as a Ph.D. supervisor and the deputy dean of the School of Industrial Design at Nanjing University of the Arts. She is also a certified service designer at the master level by the Service Design Network, a product designer, and holds a Ph.D. in Sociology. Recognized for her academic achievements, she is honored as an Excellent Young Scholar in Social Sciences by Jiangsu Province, a member of the third tier talent pool in Jiangsu’s “333 Project,” a key teacher in Jiangsu’s “Qinlan Project,” an Excellent Young Scholar in Jiangsu’s Scientific and Technological Societies, and one of China’s First Ten Outstanding Mentors in Service Design.
Professor Chen has received design education from Nanjing University of the Arts, the School of Design at Jiangnan University, Politecnico di Milano in Italy, and the Köln International School of Design in Germany. She also pursued sociological studies at the School of Social Science & Behaviors at Nanjing University. Her research interests focus on service design, design strategy, product design, and design sociology.

She has led or participated in numerous collaborations with internationally renowned companies such as Samsung, Bosch, Supor, and Honor. In recent years, her teaching, research, and artistic creation have primarily centered on service design, leading to several national-level achievements. She has authored several books, including “Research and Practice of Service Design,” “Fundamentals of Service Design,” and “Service Design: Definition, Language, Tools,” and has published numerous academic papers. Additionally, she has delivered dozens of public lectures both domestically and internationally.
