Dong Yumei is an Associate Professor at the School of Design, Jiangnan University. She holds a PhD from Tongji University and was a Visiting Scholar at Delft University of Technology. She is also a recipient of Jiangsu Province’s “Double Innovation Doctoral Talent” award.
Her primary research areas include ageing design, inclusive design, service design, and social innovation. She teaches courses such as Service Design, Sustainable Design, and Human Factors Engineering Design.
In recent years, Dr. Dong has authored the monograph Designing for New Ageing and the textbook Health Product Design. Her monograph received the First Prize for Academic Achievements from the Jiangsu Industrial Design Association. She has published over ten high-impact academic papers and led three research projects funded by the Ministry of Education and municipal or departmental authorities.
Dr. Dong has a unique perspective on design innovation for ageing societies. The methods and tools she developed for ageing design have been exhibited at the Zurich Design Museum and adopted by researchers internationally.
