Yun Chen

Chen Yun is an Assistant Professor and Associate Researcher at the School of Design, Beijing Institute of Technology, as well as a Master’s Supervisor and Deputy Director of the Center for Thematic Art and Design Research. She is also a Visiting Scholar at the University of Oxford and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA).

She earned her PhD from the Colour Research Centre at the University of Leeds, UK, focusing on interdisciplinary innovation in colour research through the integration of colour science and design. Her research interests include cross-cultural studies of colour, colour forecasting and application, colour information interaction, and colour cognitive behaviour.
Dr. Chen has led various research projects, including a UK LITE education reform project, a university-industry collaborative research project in the UK, and a General Project funded by the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation. Currently, she leads a National Social Science Fund project, a China-British collaboration project under the Ministry of Education’s “Chunhui Plan,” a social science development project in Hebei Province, and an industry-academia collaboration project funded by the Ministry of Education.

She has authored a textbook selected for the Ministry of Education’s New Liberal Arts Research Program and published over 20 SCI/SSCI papers and 20 EI-indexed papers. She also serves as a reviewer for several SCI international journals and as an invited judge for the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) “Student Design Awards.”
